“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” As I would gaze at myself in the mirror, it was becoming clear that the pattern of baldness that was passed down in my family has now become apparent in me. I had tried various hairstyles and even purchased wigs, as my mother had done before me. But none of them looked natural. So it was time for me to investigate other techniques.

There was a good deal of embarrassment connected to this issue. I was to find that, once the search had begun, my self esteem had been severely affected by thinning hair. The embarrassment kept me from talking about this with friends. Perhaps I felt it would show how vain I was.
